Shen Xiaofu fears his wife and is always obedient to her. His father-in-law, Meng Junlu, is smitten with a songstress Liu Piaopiao there, and enlists Xiaofu's help in impersonating him. When Yingchun finds out what happened, she wreaks havoc at the brothel and breaks up with Xiaofu.

Yao Gang's father is incriminated by Guo Rong. Later, Yao Gang beats Guo's son and marries Wang Lingxian. But when Gang learns that his father-in-law has sided with the man who killed his father, he is filled with anger and remorse.

Sanniang marries Liu Zhiyuan then gives birth to a boy named Yao Qilang while her husband is with the army. Liu Zhiyuan's brother dumped the baby into a pond but was saved by an old servant who brings him to his father. This excerpt is about Sanniang finally reunites with her family with a happy ending.

At the death of the King of Liang, senior minister Zhao Jiguang travels to Danyang to seek the help of Princess Yinping to put the First Prince Wenjian on the throne. But Yinping helps second Prince Wengyong ascend the throne. Later, Wenyong send her back to her vassal state, because rumour has it that he only obtained the throne with her help. General Wei Gancheng saves Yinping and they finally get married.

Chen Jichang is a romantic guy but he has a jealous and abusive wife Yu. His friend, Su Dongpo has long found Jichang's fear of his wife annoying. In order to provoke her, he arranges a 'chance meeting' between Jichang and his cousin Qincao. Yu is angry when, urged by Dongpo, Jichang asks for her permission to have Qincao as concubine. She prefers to take poison and kill herself than consenting to him taking a concubine.

The story is taken from Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Zhou Yu plans to re-capture Zingzhou, where has "temporarily ceded" to Liu Bei, by pretending to attack Xichuan. Zhuge Liang, the strategist assisting Liu Bei, traps Zhou's troops by ambush and demolishes them.

The story takes place during the last years of the Eastern Han Dynasty when the Central Plains of China is divided into three kingdoms. Cao Cao presides over the feudal lords with the Han Emperor under his control. His third son Cao Zhi is a gifted man and is in love with the talented Zhen Mi. His brother Cao Pi deliberately chooses her as his wife to upset his brother.

Zhi is banished to Linzi because Pi lest Zhi may challenge the throne. Despite the dire consequences, Zhi returns to see her again. However, Lady Mi jumps from a high tower into the Luo River to her death.

When a feudal lord kills the king and usurps the throne in the State of Chu, General Xia Yunlong and sister Yunxiang help the Crown Prince to flee the country. Yunlong hopes to enlist the military support of Marshal He of the State of Wei, as the Marshal's daughter, Caifeng, is betrothed to him. Caifen's brother Feihu originally refuses to help them but he changes his mind of seeing Yunxiang. Yunlong takes his army all the way to the Chu capital and regains the throne for the Crown Prince.

The barbaric Turks invaded and seized the frontier Pass of Cold River. Commander Cheng Yaojin was ordered to recover the Pass. Fan Hong the general guarding Cold River Pass was originally an officer of the former Sui Dynasty, surrendering to the Turks after the fall of Sui. Fan Lihua, Fan Hong's daughter, secretly met Cheng Yaojin to discuss surrendering to Tang, but ended up fighting with Xue Dingshan the young Tang officer. Eventually, Cheng Yaojin and Fan Lihua made an agreement of her allegiance to Tang, and Cheng acted as match-maker for Lihua and Dingshan. Listening to his daughter's persuasion, Fan Hong's reservations were eliminated and he consented to joining Tang.

On the wedding night, Dingshan grew suspicious of Lihua's intentions and the couple quarreled, Dingshan insulted Lihua who went back in anger to Cold River Pass. However, Lihua put aside personal grudges later, risked her life, to save Dingshan. She despaired of the romance and left without bidding farewell. In remorse, Dingshan volunteered to crawl all the way to Cold River, kneeling once and kowtowing thrice alternately, begging forgiveness. At Cold River Pass, Dingshan heard the shocking news that Lihua had died of the spear wound inflicted by him. In great sorrow, he confessed his guilt at the funeral parlor. It was a ruse to have Lihua feigning death to test Dingshan's true feelings. Lihua was moved by Dingshan's true love and they were reconciled.
